Description
We recommend cloning for ECM/ECU/PCM repair. We have found it to be the fastest and most reliable way to repair your computer and get your vehicle back on the road. To that end, we no longer offer direct repairs on existing modules. Our experience is that damaged modules typically fail again after repair.
What is ECM/ECU/PCM Cloning?
ECM (Engine Control Module) cloning is the process of copying the data from the original ECU and programming that data onto a second new/used/donor ECM. This can be done for a variety of reasons, such as replacing a faulty ECM or having a second ECU with a different calibration.
Advantages
- Significant savings over a new module.
- Used modules are readily available, new modules usually have long lead times.
- Plug and play means no expensive trips to the dealer, no locksmith, no key relearns, and no waiting.
- A cloned ECM is completely plug and play. Just install and drive.
- All security immobilizer data, key fobs, injector coding, VIN number, engine/transmission calibration, and all other relevant information is copied over. No module coding or programming necessary.
Why would I want this?
- Your ECM/ECU/PCM is causing drivability issues and needs repair.
- You want to have different calibrations for how your vehicle operates.
- Leased or tuned vehicles under warranty (switch to stock ECU when it goes to dealer)
- Different ECM for various requirements like towing, economy, performance, valet, Turo/Getaround.

FAQ
Who pays for shipping?
- You pay for shipping to us; we pay for return shipping to you.
I found a module that looks just like mine. Will it work?
- Probably not. Even though it may look the same and even have the same plugs, there are differences; you can’t go on physical appearance.
How do I know if I am buying the right used module?
- It’s complicated. Your best bet is to get a used module from a vehicle of the same model year with the same fuel type, engine size, transmission type (manual or automatic) and drive type (AWD, 4X4, 2WD, etc). Contact us if you’re not sure.
Where can I find used modules?
- eBay is an option, but there are risks and we have seen some shady or questionable things from eBay modules. We have numerous suppliers and potentially better pricing. Contact us for help finding a purchasing a used/donor module.
