We hear “my mechanic said it’s a bad ECU” or “it just needs to be reflashed” almost daily.
Maybe it does — but probably not. Trying to fix a module issue with a reflash is like trying to fix a cracked phone screen with a software update.
We do not mean to pick on anyone, but misdiagnosis is very common. We see it often after mobile mechanic visits, expensive repairs like engine or transmission replacements that do not perform correctly, and parts-store code scans from places like AutoZone, Pep Boys, or Advance Auto Parts.
If you have a check engine light, drivability issue, or module problem, let us perform a real diagnostic first. Our diagnostic service includes a professionally written report, an emailed copy of the scanner diagnostic codes, our analysis of what the problem is, why we believe that is the problem, and recommended next steps.
Modules rarely just “go bad.” When they do fail, there is usually a reason behind it. Common causes include a weak battery, repeated jump-starts, a failing alternator, ignored check engine lights, failed coils, bad sensors, faulty actuators, or wiring harness damage that has been left unresolved for weeks or months.
Before replacing or reflashing a module, we want to identify any other problem so you do not waste money replacing parts that may not fix the vehicle.
Written report includedIf we arrive on site, you owe us money. It is that simple. If you do not think that is fair, call someone else. We are not the right company for you.
The minimum charge is $200 no matter the outcome.
We will greet you kindly, ask for the keys, and may ask some diagnostic questions or clarify the scope of work. Then we will politely and clearly tell you the clock is starting. We are charging you by the hour. If you want to pay us $150 an hour to chat, we are okay with that. We do not work for free.
A used module can save $1,000 or more compared to a new module programmed by the dealer, and most used modules are fine. We think the risk is usually worth it, but it is still a risk.
If you have any question about whether you have the right part or how to verify the right part, call us and ask before scheduling service. We do not work for free.
We offer advanced diagnostics for $190 and provide a written report with trouble codes, analysis, and recommended repairs.
If you ask diagnostic-type questions, we will clarify that you are asking for us to perform an advanced diagnostic and ask you to approve the charge, $190, for this service. We do not work for free.
Do not expect callbacks to be free. We are happy to return and perform more service or tuning, but there will be a charge.
If a service we performed does not have the expected result, we may return and make it right or offer a refund. This is a very narrow scope and completely at our discretion. We do not work for free.
Sometimes we can, sometimes you need to fix some things and then we come back for more tuning.
It is your responsibility to have your vehicle ready for tuning. If you have questions, call and ask before you book an appointment. We will tell you common problems we see on engine swaps. Each session will be charged independently. We do not work for free.
Pricing shown is a general mobile service menu and may vary depending on vehicle, ECU type, software support, tuning credits, unlock requirements, travel distance, part condition, and job complexity.
