Tuning and controller services
These services solve different problems. Start with the result you want.
Mail-order performance tuning
Send us your PCM/ECM. We build and install a custom calibration for your vehicle, fuel, modifications, drivability, and performance goals.
Best for: Customers who want the finished calibration installed before the module comes back.
Remote tuning with RTD4
Use an HP Tuners RTD4 to read, flash, and datalog the vehicle from home while PCM Tuners builds and revises the calibration.
Best for: Modified vehicles that need datalog-based revisions or customers who want to keep a flashing device.
PCM unlock
Most 2015-and-newer Mopar PCMs must be unlocked before HP Tuners can write a calibration. For 2018-and-newer vehicles, a Smart Access Cable is also required.
Buy this when: You already have a tuning plan or device and only need the locked PCM prepared.
Dodge VIN change – $119
Installing a donor or replacement module? We write your 17-digit VIN into a 1996-and-newer Dodge PCM/ECM when the base Module P/N matches. The final two-letter date code may differ.
This is not tuning: It changes the VIN in the module and keeps the tuning purchase separate.
What a custom Mopar tune can do
- Improve throttle response and drivability
- Calibrate fuel, ignition, and torque management
- Correct tire size and axle gearing when you have an HP Tuners MPVI device
- Adjust fan settings
- Support common intake, header, and exhaust upgrades
- Disable MDS where offered and legal for the application
- Remove the speed governor
- Provide a startup calibration for many camshaft or forced-induction combinations
Large camshafts, superchargers, turbochargers, injectors, and custom engine combinations usually benefit from remote datalog-based tuning rather than a one-and-done mail-order calibration.
Know what your model year requires
- 1996-2014: PCM unlock or Smart Access Cable is normally not required.
- 2015-2017: PCMs require bench unlocking before tuning. PCM unlocking and a Smart Access Cable are required.
- 2018 and newer: PCM unlocking and a Smart Access Cable are required for HP Tuners access.
- VIN change only: Match the base Module P/N on the original and replacement modules. The final two-letter date-code suffix may differ.

Replacement engine computers
Keep the data that matters
Replacing a 2003+ NGC or GPEC PCM/ECM? A full clone can preserve supported security, identity, configuration, and calibration data. For an older stock-calibration vehicle, the $119 VIN-change service may be all you need.
