Description

Mopar PCM / ECM cloning for 2003 and newer vehicles

Replacing a failed engine computer in a Dodge, Ram, Jeep, or Chrysler? Send PCM Tuners your original PCM or ECM and a matching donor. We copy the supported vehicle identity, security, operating, and calibration data so the donor keeps the information that matters from your original module.

Choose the finished result

  • Clone only – $299: Transfer the supported contents of the original module to the matching donor.
  • Clone + custom tune – $449: Clone the donor and update the calibration for your vehicle and common modifications.
  • Unlock + clone – $449: Clone a 2015-and-newer module and prepare it for HP Tuners programming now or later.
  • Unlock + clone + custom tune – $549: The complete 2015+ package: matched replacement, unlock, and PCM Tuners calibration in one mail-in service.

Tracked standard US return shipping is included. You do not need to send label photos or wait for pre-approval before ordering.

The one thing to match before you buy a donor

Read the number labeled Module P/N on the original PCM or ECM. The donor needs the same part number except for the final two letters. Those last two letters are a date-code suffix and do not need to match; the remainder of the Module P/N must match.

For example, P68059148AI and another module beginning with P68059148 can be a valid match even when the final two letters differ. A different number before those last two letters is not the donor to buy. Do not choose by connector shape or an online fitment claim alone.

See the Mopar PCM/ECM replacement guide for the quick label check and the difference between cloning, VIN change, unlocking, and tuning.

NGC and GPEC controller coverage

This service is aimed at 2003-and-newer Chrysler-family gasoline PCM/ECM applications using NGC and Continental GPEC-series controllers, including many NGC1, NGC2, NGC3, NGC4, GPEC2, GPEC2A, GPEC3, GPEC4, and GPEC4LM modules. Exact serviceability still follows the original and donor Module P/N.

Representative applications include Dodge Ram, Dakota, Durango, Charger, Challenger, Magnum, Journey, Dart, and Grand Caravan; Ram 1500 and ProMaster City; Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Commander, Cherokee, Compass, Liberty, Patriot, and Renegade; and Chrysler 200, 300, Sebring, Town & Country, and Pacifica.

Common engine families include 2.0L and 2.4L four-cylinders, 2.7L and 3.5L V6 engines, 3.6L Pentastar, 3.7L and 4.7L PowerTech, 3.3L and 3.8L minivan engines, and 5.7L, 6.1L, and 6.4L HEMI applications. Coverage varies by year, vehicle, engine, transmission, emissions package, and exact module hardware.

Do you actually need a full clone?

For many older Mopar vehicles, no. If the original calibration is stock and there is no custom tune you need to preserve, the simpler path is usually a replacement module with the matching Module P/N and our Mopar PCM / ECM VIN Change Service. That service is $119.

Choose a full clone when you need the original module’s supported security data, learned identity, configuration, or custom calibration carried into the donor. If you already paid for a tune or have a calibration you want to keep, cloning is the safer choice.

2015+ unlock and tuning options

Most 2015-and-newer Dodge, Ram, Jeep, and Chrysler PCMs must be unlocked before HP Tuners can write a calibration. Add the unlock when you want the cloned donor ready for tuning. On 2018-and-newer vehicles, HP Tuners access also requires a Smart Access Cable in the vehicle.

A tune can be added to any supported module. The custom calibration can address throttle response, torque management, fan settings, tire or gear changes where supported, common bolt-ons, and other agreed changes. Large camshaft, injector, or forced-induction combinations may be better suited to remote datalog-based tuning.

How the mail-in service works

  1. Choose the service option and complete checkout.
  2. Pack the original module and matching donor together. Put your order number in the box.
  3. Ship them to:
    PCM Tuners
    367 N Clarendon Ave, Unit 7
    [YOUR ORDER NUMBER]
    Scottdale, GA 30079
  4. We complete the selected clone, unlock, and tuning work, verify bench communication, and return both modules with tracking. Typical shop turnaround is 1-3 business days after arrival.

If the original module is dead

A module that no longer communicates in the vehicle can sometimes still be read directly on the bench. A full clone is only possible when the necessary data can be recovered from the original. Water damage, electrical damage, corrupted memory, or previous repair attempts can prevent recovery. If the normal clone cannot be completed, we will contact you before adding any different service.

Want PCM Tuners to provide the replacement module?

If you would rather receive a sourced, matched, and programmed replacement, request a PCM Tuners-provided module quote. Include the vehicle year, model, engine, VIN, and Module P/N; no photos are required.

Important limitations

  • Cloning transfers supported data; it does not repair the original or diagnose wiring, power, ground, network, or mechanical faults.
  • A customer-supplied donor is checked for identification, programming, and bench communication, but its electronics are not remanufactured or covered by a hardware warranty.
  • Proof of ownership or authorization may be requested for security-related work.
