Description
GM ECM / PCM Cloning
Send us your original GM ECM or PCM and a matching donor. We transfer the supported vehicle-specific data so the donor comes back ready to install without dealer programming or an anti-theft relearn after a successful clone.
What to send
- Your original ECM/PCM containing the vehicle’s existing data.
- A readable donor ECM/PCM with the exact same GM service number.
- Your order number and completed service request.
Match the complete service number printed on the module labels. Do not rely on case appearance, an online vehicle-fitment list, salvage-yard interchange data, or connector shape alone.
Choose the finished result
- Clone only – $249: Transfer the supported contents of the original module to the matching donor.
- Clone + VATS delete – $299: Complete the clone and disable VATS where the controller and application support it.
- Clone + custom mail-order tune – $449: Complete the clone and add PCM Tuners’ standard mail-order calibration work. VATS changes are included when requested and supported.
Starting GM controller coverage
Supported families include E37/E37A, E38, E39/E39A, E67, E78, and E92 ECM/PCM applications. Exact support is confirmed from the vehicle information and both module labels before you ship. Additional GM controllers may be accepted when the cloning method has been verified.
How mail-order cloning works
- Choose the service option and complete checkout.
- Complete the PCM Tuners service request form. Select GM ECM/PCM cloning and upload clear photographs of both labels.
- Wait for the module-match approval email before shipping.
- Pack both modules securely. We strongly recommend the white 9 by 3 by 12 inch Pen+Gear boxes sold at Walmart. Use enough packing material that the modules cannot slide or strike each other.
- Ship the package to:

[YOUR ORDER NUMBER]
Scottdale, GA 30079 - We complete the service and return both modules with tracking. Typical shop turnaround is 1-3 business days after the approved modules arrive.
When a module does not communicate
A module that will not communicate in the vehicle may still contain recoverable data. Cloning becomes impossible only when the necessary data cannot be recovered directly from the original. Water damage, electrical damage, corrupted memory, prior repair attempts, security locks, or previous programming can prevent a successful read. A wrong, damaged, or unreadable donor can also stop the job.
If the standard clone cannot be completed because of the supplied modules, PCM Tuners retains $99 for evaluation and tracked standard US return shipping and refunds the remaining service price. Extended recovery, replacement programming, or a sourced donor is never added without your approval.
90-Day Clone Verification Guarantee
Every completed donor is read back, power-cycled, and checked for bench communication before shipment. If our transferred data does not verify correctly, we will repeat the cloning work at no charge. This guarantee covers PCM Tuners’ data-transfer work. It does not cover vehicle diagnosis, wiring or electrical faults, shipping damage, or hardware failure in either customer-supplied module.
Need us to source the donor?
Customer-supplied donors are the standard path. If you want PCM Tuners to locate one, request a sourced-donor quote with a clear photograph of the original label. The quote will include the donor, sourcing and bench verification, cloning, and return shipping. Do not purchase the normal customer-supplied-donor option first.
Important limitations
- Cloning copies the original module’s existing data; it does not diagnose the vehicle or repair damaged electronics.
- A customer-supplied donor is verified for identification, programming, and bench communication, but its electronics are not remanufactured or covered by a hardware warranty.
- An existing calibration or tune is normally carried into the donor during a successful full clone. Choose the custom-tune option when you want PCM Tuners to change that calibration.
- Proof of ownership or authorization may be requested for anti-theft-related work.
