Choose your GM PCM or ECM
We offer a mail-in service to delete the Vehicle Anti-Theft System (VATS) in GM PCM and ECM modules. VATS can prevent your car or truck from starting after a security-system failure or an engine swap. The vehicle will crank but never start if VATS is active.
Do you need this service? Choose the controller that matches your case, connectors, label, or service number.
Every $119 service on this page includes tracked return shipping within the United States and normally takes 1–3 business days in the shop after your controller arrives.
Before you order
VATS delete service is available for nearly all GM vehicles from 1994 and newer, including the 1994–1995 OBD1 LT1 and the 1996–1997 OBD2 LT1. This also includes V6 engines such as the 3.1L, 3.4L, 3.8L, and 4.3L in various cars, trucks, and vans, plus the 1998–2001 Black Box Vortec PCM.
The 1996–1997 Black Box Vortec PCM does not have VATS enabled, so those years do not need this service.
Not supported: Cadillac Northstar PCMs and the E55 PCM used in roughly 2004–2005 GM 3.6L and 2.8L port-injected High Feature V6 applications.
How do I know if VATS is the problem?
The security light or lock icon stays lit on the gauge cluster. The engine may also run momentarily on starting fluid. VATS will never cause a vehicle to shut down while driving.
VATS delete can also be used with a replacement PCM or ECM. When VATS is deleted, you do not have to perform the anti-theft relearn.
VATS-only or a complete tune?
- $119 VATS-only service: VATS removal with no other calibration changes.
- $299 complete mail-order tune: VATS removal when needed, plus performance tuning, DTC setup for an engine swap, and startup tuning for a cam swap.
VATS removal is included with the complete tune when needed. You do not need to buy both services for the same controller.
