Our Guidance

We generally recommend SCT unless there’s a specific reason to choose HP Tuners.

SCT is easier, more affordable, and ideal for most daily-driven vehicles. It’s also good for moderate LS swaps. If budget is tight and you’re not running heavy mods, SCT is the way to go.

Choose SCT if you:

  • Have a daily driver with stock or mild bolt-ons.
  • Want reliable, dyno-proven preloaded tunes immediately.
  • Would like easy access to our custom tune service.
  • Run long tube headers and need rear O2 disabled (custom tune required).
  • Need features like DOD/AFM/MDS delete, speed limiter removal, transmission tuning, fan control, etc.
  • Have an LS swap that does not require a segment swap (Gen 4 ECUs still require mail-in for VATS delete).

Choose HP Tuners if you:

  • Have advanced builds (Stage 2+ cam, boost, high-stall converter, etc.).
  • Are tuning GM Gen 5 (DI) with cam upgrades.
  • Own a 2015+ Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep (unsupported by SCT).
  • Need to tune more than one vehicle.
  • Want full parameter access or plan to self-tune.
  • Require VATS delete on Gen 4+ GM ECUs.
