Plug-and-play replacement service for many Mercedes-Benz vehicles using the Bosch ME9.7 ECU family. This service is ideal when the original ECU has failed, been damaged, or you need a matched replacement programmed from your existing unit.

What This Service Is

If your Mercedes has a bad ECU, we transfer the program from your original module to a used donor. This makes the used module exactly like the original so it can be a plug and play repair. This is commonly used when the original ECU has water damage, internal failure, no communication, output driver faults, or other issues that make replacement necessary.

Shipping Instructions

  1. Remove your ECU from the vehicle
  2. Mark it as original
  3. Securely package the original and used donor ECUs in one box
  4. Write your order number on the outside of the box
  5. OR
  6. Include your order number on a note inside the box

USPS recommend for delivery to our secure locked mailbox at the shop, UPS & FedEx are ok too, but sometimes they don’t leave the package and this causes a delay.

If we receive ECUs with no order number and cannot identify the customer, they will be set aside until the owner contacts us.

Good Sources for Used Modules

Make sure you match the part number exactly. Your module will most likely come from a donor vehicle that is the same model year, trim level, engine, and transmission.

Car-part.com – a national database of used auto parts.

Facebook marketplace and Craigslist, but use some common sense.

How the Process Works

1. Place your order.
2. Ship in your original ECU and replacement ECU.
3. We clone the program from the original to the replacement ECU.
4. We send the module back ready for installation.

Important Notes

• Your original ECU must be readable (it should “talk” to a scan tool plugged into OBD port).
• We refund half the the cost of the service and return both modules if we are unable to clone the module (typically because the original is completely failed/damaged)
• Match the part number that starts with the Mercedes logo and the letter ‘A’. eBay is a good source for used ECUs.
• Not every no-start condition is caused by the ECU. Proper diagnosis is important before ordering.
• Replacement ECU part numbers and hardware versions must be compatible.
